Meet the team
MICK GERRARD
Drew was born in Edinburgh and grew up at Spott Estate in East Lothian, Scotland, on the family farm, where he became an 18th generation farmer in the Lawrie family. He attended Loretto School in Scotland before moving to Australia with the family in 2001, where he completed his final year of school at The Southport School. Drew is one of five children, with two brothers and two sisters, and is the second youngest.
After finishing school, Drew worked on the family farm before managing a beverage company for 10 years. He then managed Royston House, a farm and wedding venue in the Scenic Rim, for six years before starting The White Stag with his younger brother, Bruce.
Drew still occasionally helps out on family friends' farms due to his strong ties to farming. He is very social, has a knack for bringing everyone together, and is well-loved by all. Known for his "just get it done" mentality, Drew also has a deep love for sports, particularly rugby, which took him across the world in his 20s.
He met his partner Hailey while she was traveling from Canada in 2010 at the sideline of a rugby game he was playing and she was spectating. They kept in contact after she left Australia, and shortly after she returned. Drew proposed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2012, and they got married at the Steam Whistle Brewery in Toronto, Canada, in 2014. Drew has planned his own wedding and many family weddings.
Recently, Drew and Hailey built their dream house in Southport, where they love entertaining friends and family. They have two young boys, Fyfe and Tait, and two labradoodles named Hank and Bosco.
Bruce is the youngest of the Lawrie siblings by a fairly long way. He was also born in Edinburgh, and raised for the first years at Spott in East Lothian before moving to Australia in grade 2 and attending The Southport School where he graduated in 2011. Upon leaving school, Bruce moved to New Zealand where he completed a Ski Season at Mount Hutt as a lift operator and snowboard instructor. Before long he found himself running Mount Hutts social media and being the resident photographer. He eventually found himself back on this side of the ditch, where he worked at Apple for 6 years. At Apple Bruce worked for their Business and Enterprise team, and specialised in assisting business and government bodies in procurement, software integration as well as device management. From there he spent time working for Apple in Cupertino leading a software testing team.
Bruce met his partner Pacha in 2011 who moved here from England a few years earlier. Although they knew each others face, not until a trip to New Zealand in 2017 did they officially get together.
In 2019, Bruce and Pacha moved to Canada, where they bought their home on wheels “Ruby” and drove 67,000km across North America spending time in Canada, main land US and Alaska where they skied 28 resorts, and visited many of the national parks.
Since returning to Australia together they have built their own tiny home in the hinterland where they live with their Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy Maple.
Bruce has a passion for the great outdoors, adventure, camping, travel and you’ll often find him on a hike or off grid. He has played Rugby, and Indoor football for many years - and loves watching Ice hockey. He loves the mountains, snowboarding and photography.
Bruce has worked managing a team around Australia and NZ at Tesla since returning to Australia, along with starting The White Stag.
